    form (access 2003)

    I am creating a form. There are 3 places to enter dollar amounts. I want the total entered into those 3 places to show up on the form. (a way for people to confirm they have entered the right data - a running total as they enter in data). How do I do this?

    Let's say that the "3 places" are text boxes txtAmount1, txtAmount2 and txtAmount3. If they are unbound (i.e. their control source is not a field in the record source of the form), make sure that their Format property is set to a number or currency format.
    Create a new text box on the form with control source
    <code>
    =Nz([txtAmount1],0)+Nz([txtAmount2],0)+Nz([txtAmount3],0)
    </code>
    The Nz function is necessary to treat null (blank, empty) values as if they're zero.
