    Set paper trays (2003 SP2)

How do I set the paper trays used by a doc? I have gone into ‘Page Setup’ and set MP Tray for 1st page and Tray 2 for subsequent pages, then saved the doc. When I go into the Print dialog and select the printer ‘Properties’ button, the 1st page shows correctly set to the MP Tray, but subsequent pages are set to ‘Same as First Page’.
    1) How do I get the correct setting to stick?
    2) In Access you can set a doc to print on a specific printer, can the same be done in Word?
    Regards,
    Peter

    1) The Page Setup settings should overrule the standard printer settings when you print the document.

    2) Interactively, you can select the printer in the File | Print... dialog; this information is not stored with the document however. Using VBA, you can set Application.ActivePrinter; the best way to know the name to use is to select the printer interactively, then type

    ? Application.ActivePrinter

and press Enter in the Immediate window in the Visual Basic Editor.

Thanks Hans. I was afraid that there would be no way of storing the printer & printer prefs with a doc. Good old MicroStuft
