Visio 2000 Saving Files

I know that there are issues with saving Visio files, where they say "not a visio file". But I fixed a file for a user, saved it, then sent it back to him--an org chart--when he opens it the connector lines go bonkers. Anyone know what's up?

Is that a technical term? Seriously, exactly what happens to the connectors when he opens the drawing? Do they disappear, become disconnected, do the hula, or what?

    d. All of the above.

Seriously, yes: they become disconnected; they get pushed to the upper half and to the left of the drawing and appear to have formed a clique and are having coffee together in the north quarter. LOL!

To provide a bit more, the file he opened and didn't save came back to me just fine. The one he opened and did save was all messed up. The file's 200+K so I can't attach, but I'll be happy to email it.

And I VERY MUCH appreciate your help!

Is he using the same version, including service releases, of Visio? The "not a Visio file" message tends to crop up when you mix versions, although I've had drawings corrupt spontaneously prior to applying SR-1. Take a look at knowledgebase article and see it it offers any suggestions. You might also want to take a look at Vso2000: What's Fixed in SR-1 Update (All Editions) [Q264400] to see if anything there rings a bell, assuming he doesn't have SR-1 installed.

Thanks, Charlotte. I was already aware of the first article, but didn't think twice about the SR...am finding out.
