    Access Security (Access 2002)

I was working with security and setup security on a database file. I setup the file with a user name and a password. I was working with a small file ttrying to figure out the security system. Well I didn't write down the pass word and I later found that all my files now require the password and I don't remember it. How do I get rid of this password requirement?
    Thanks for any help
    Jim

Quit all instances of Access, then throw away (or rename) your default workgroup file System.mdw in the folder Cocuments and Settings<username>Application DataMicrosoftAccess. Access will create a new one next time you start it.

Application Data is a hidden folder, so you must show hidden files and folders in Windows Explorer in order to see this folder.

    Hans,
My ISP was working on their email system when you tried to send the email. It should go through now.
I looked for the System.mdw file where you said it should be but I couldn't find it. I looked for it in the windows system32 folder and found one there. I deleted it but Access is still asking for a password. Where else might it be?

    Try this then:
    - Start Access. You don't have to open a database.
    - Select Tools | Security | Workgroup Administrator...
    - Click Create...
    - Specify a name, e.g. your own name. You can leave the Organization and Workgroup ID boxes blank.
    - Click OK and confirm.
    - Specify a file name, e.g. System1.mdw, then click OK.
You will automatically join the new, unsecured workgroup.
