    Default Template (Word 2007)

When I start a new document the default is always 1.5 lines between each new line. How to I change the default to be 1 line also tick the box which says "dont add space between paragraphs of the same style". I know that this information is stored in Normal.doc but dont know which settings to change. Hopefully somebody will be able to help?

    Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

    - Start a new document.
    - Activate the Home tab of the ribbon.
    - Click Styles in the Styles group. This activates the Styles task pane.
    - Select the Normal style.
    - Click the dropdown arrow and select Modify...
    - Click the Format... dropdown and select Paragraph...
    - Specify the settings you want, then click OK.
    - Here comes the important part: back in the Modify Style dialog, select "New documents based on this template".
    - Click OK.

    Re: Default Template (Word 2007)

I am using "Classic Menu for Office" add-on.
    Create new document
Click on All > Format > Styles > Normal (drop down box Modify) > (drop down box Format) > Paragraph : Line Space Single and tick box below : OK > Select "New Documents based on this template" >OK
    Exit Document
Dialog box is "Changes have been made that affect the Normal template - save changes" > Yes
Right click on desktop and "New Word Document"
    Line spacing = 1.5!!

Any ideas wher I may be going wrong?

    Re: Default Template (Word 2007)

If you right-click the desktop and select New | Word Document, the document isn't based on Normal.dot(x). The Normal template is used
    a) When you start Word without opening a document.
When you start a blank new document from within Word.

The document created the way you describe is a copy of C:WindowsShellNewWINWORD8.DOC, so you'll have to open that document, set the formatting the way you want, then close and save it.

    Re: Default Template (Word 2007)

The Style No Spaci... actually does not have the 1.5 space after on it so instead of using the normal style just click on the No Spac...

Then you don't have to alter anything. ;-)
