    2 styles, 1 numbered list (Office XP SP3)

    Hi gang,
    I want to combine 2 documents. They both have numbering lists and styles. Style1(doc 1) and Title1(doc 2) are the same. I want to copy doc 2 into doc 1 without having to go through it and replacing Title1 with Style1. I remember reading about it on the lounge ages ago. Something like modifying the name of Style1 to Style1;Title1.
    Please help.
    Tks

    I would have thought that you need to use a comma , rather than a semicolon ;

    In my Word 2003, I get an invalid character error when I attempt to add a semicolon to a style name.

    You're correct, I'll edit my previous reply. Thanks!

    (The confusion was caused by my system settings)

    Edited by HansV to correct error (semicolon > comma) - thanks to Andrew Lockton for pointing out my mistake

    You can indeed modify the title of a style to include aliases separated by commas. Word will assume that they are the same style.
