Apostrophes print curly to Postscript Printer (Word 2000)

If I type single straight quote (apostrophe) into a Word document and print to a printer with Postscript Printer driver (HP LaserJet 4000 PS), the straight single quote prints curly. If I print to a non Postscript driver, the single quote prints straight. The single quote appears fine in the document and in print preview. Under Tools, AutoCorrect, AutoFormat as you type, changing straight to curly is turned off - so this is not the problem. We have recently changed to Windows 2000 and did not notice this problem in Windows 95. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there a solution?

Are you using a True Type font?

I'm sure KB was getting to this, but when we went to Win2K (still Wd97, ALL HP printers) the typeface in our Headers and Footers started printing wacko -- I don't know if it is TrueType or not, but everything was restored by doing this:

    Start/ Settings/ Printers/ <<dbl click>> the printer, when open <click> Printer/ Printing Preferences/ Finishing tab/ Font Settings/ {enable} Send TrueType as Bitmap.

While there you may want to {enable} Print All Text As Black--even if coded black in Word, color prints as grey-shaded for us unless checked here.

    Yes, Times New Roman.

Thank you thank you thank you Van!!!
My settings were not exactly the same as yours but you definitely pointed me in the right direction. I had to right click printer (HP 4000 PS) and select Printing Preferences, select Advanced and I changed the True Type Font from substitute with device font to download as soft font. I will need to do some additional testing but my initial test has worked.
Thanks very much for your help!
