Subreport Prints white on black (2007)

I am adding a 4th subreport to a main report. Everything works properly except that the subreport prints with white lettering on a black background.

The subreport on itself (without being inserted into main report) prints that way too.

Any thoughts or do you need more information?

The subreport doesn't look that way in print preview?

Yes, it does look reversed in print preview. I haven't printed it yet since I've had a hard time getting this particular subreport to behave. It's based on a table that uses a lookup for its value and the subreport wanted to show all the possible values. But no matter what I've done it has always been white print on black background.

Are you sure it's not designed that way? Have you looked at the back color of the detail section and at the forecolor (text color) of the text boxes?

If you wish, you can post a stripped down copy of your database. See <post#=401925>post 401925</post#> for instructions. (In fact, a database with just the subreport should be sufficient)

Re: Subreport Prints white on black (2007)

Hans, I certainly didn't intend for the subreport to be white on black. By now who knows what I've changed it to.

I've included all the subreports as well as the main one in case there's some weird interaction there.

DistList1-Main works but it doesn't have the DistList1E-BuyGroup subreport in it.

    DistList1-MainWithBuyGroup shows my problem.

    The problem subreport is distList1E-BuyGroup.

Could the problem be with the underlying table BuyGrpMmbr?

I'll probably have two on you!!!

The BuyGrp control in the Detail section of distList1E-BuyGroup is a list box instead of a text box. A list box always displays the selected item highlighted in reverse colors.
Right-click this control and select Change To | Text Box. Then save the subreport. It should display normally now.

Hans, will you marry me?? Current spouse(s) no problem.

    That solved everything.

Where did I go wrong originally? Where should I have put in a text box rather than what I did (likely accidentally)?

Re: Subreport Prints white on black (2007)

In the BuyGrpMember table, the Lookup property of the BuyGrp field is set to Combo Box. When you create a report, and drag BuyGrp from the Field List box to the report, it'll be a combo box by default. I guess you changed it to a list box, either on purpose to get rid of the dropdown arrow, or by accident.

    Thanks for the offer - I won't take you up on it, for which you'll be thankful! <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Thank you for all your help. I spent a day and a half trying to get this *@#$%@%$ report to work right. I really appreciate it.

    You're welcome. I doubt I'd be THAT thankful, but probably my husband is <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
