    can I print a split window? (XP / 2003)

with a split window and freeze panes in place, I can keep the list of staff name in place on the left, and scroll along past early months and show later months, one colunm per day, on the right. I want to print the staff list and the columns for days in (say) April, avoiding the Jan - Mar colunms, but can't make it happen. Print preview just shows all the columns i don't want. I know I can use Hide to remove the unprintable columns, but this is slow and fiddly. Any help please.

In File- page setup sheet(tab), set the "titles" to the range you want to print always at the left. Then only select the range to print (eg April) and it will print the left titles and the april column.

Freeze panes and split window are just ways of displaying the worksheet on screen, it doesn't affect printed output in any way.

An alternative to hiding columns could be to use the camera tool to copy the parts you want to print to another sheet and to arrange them he way you want.

    Go to File/Page Set Up...
On the Sheet tab, click in the Columns to Repeat at left box then click anywhere in the column(s) that contains the staff info.
    - this will set a column, or columns if necessary that will print on the left.

When you want to print April
Highlight the columns you want to print
go to File Print... (or Ctrl+P)
in the "Print What" section, click the Selection radio button.

    Print away.
