Outlook has caused an error (2000)

Each time I close Outlook I receive an error message that says, "Outlook has caused an error in <unknown>. Outlook will now close.

This phenomenon has just started. There does not appear to be any deleterious effects - Outlook does close and performs normally on subsequent activation.

Re: Outlook has caused an error (2000)

I just checked the referenced article. Unfortunately, no joy. I have one of the third party applications, WinZip, but it is Version 8.0 and has been working fine for many months. Also, my error message only occurs subsequent to closing Outlook 2000. Everything seems normal, Outlook asks me to confirm emptying the Deleted items folder, closes and then presents the error message. No other effect and everything associated with attachments works fine. Thanks for the try.

I've never had a problem with winzip either. Are you using any addins?

does it work correctly if you don't empty the trash? change that setting and test.

    also - try renaming outcmd.dat and/or extend.dat.

Re: Outlook has caused an error (2000)

Thanks for the attempted help folks but as is the nature of Windows ME and Outlook 2000, the damn thing has fixed itself! Haven't a clue why, but all closings of Outlook are now perfectly normal.
