    Using Range Names as series in charts (2003)

    Is it possible to use Range Names to identify the data series in Excel charts? For example, I have a row of headings - to which I have assigned the Range Name MONTHS - and want to use the Range name rather than the cell co-ordinates when specifying the X axis range in the Source Data dialog box. I've tried =MONTHS in the Category X axis labels box, but without success. It seems to me that I should be able to do this, but for some reason, I can't see how. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

    Yes, it is possible, but you must use either
    <code>
    ='Sheet1'!MONTHS
    </code>
    where Sheet1 is the name of the worksheet, or
    <code>
    =Book1.xls!MONTHS
    </code>
    where Book1.xls is the name of the workbook.

    See Using named ranges to create dynamic charts in Excel.
