Spell-check baulks consistently

I say "consistently".
I tried spell-checking twice, baulked at same point.
I closed Firefox, re-entered the Lounge, pasted the text; spell-checked - baulked at the same spot.
Rebooted and took a cold-shower.
Same result.

I have a ZIP file with the text of the message and a screen-snapshot. Posting it here may result in everyone trying it and annoying the servers.
If any moderator would care to suggest an email address, I'll email it instanter and attach the 42KB ZIP file so that they can experiment under controlled circumstances.

In the meantime, Hans has to wait for a response to his <post:=700,875>post 700,875</post:>

Is this the Lounge "Check Spelling" option or the Firefox spell checker?

Why don't you use Firefox's spell checker - it's faster and better than the rather underpowered Lounge version.

OK. I will.
In the meantime there seems to be a new problem with the Lounge Software.

Yup.
It seems to freeze solid on me when I spell-check.

Re: Spell-check baulks consistently

I have that problem neither when using the Lounge spell checker nor when using theFirefox one. If it happens with some particular text only, you can e-mail it to the LoungeAdmin address listed at the bottom of each Lounge page. If it happens whenever you spell-check, it must be something on your PC, beyond our control.

Are you running spell check after you have made an attachment?
If so DON"T!

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Nope.
Same behaviour as awlays - pastein text from previous message, type in reply, click on "Check Spelling" button.
I tried again, a new day, a reboot and it baulks at the same spot.
I will email a copy as per <post:=700,950>post 700,950</post:>

Done. Thanks,

Agreed. That something could be a quirky set of characters in my (text) response.

No problem here. There was a pause of around 15 seconds part way through rendering the checked preview - it got as far a "based on L, based on the comm" to be precise - but then completed OK.

As they say, I dunno...

Re: Spell-check baulks consistently

I pasted the text from the file that you e-mailed into a reply using Internet Explorer 7, then clicked Check Spelling. It worked OK - see screenshot below.
I also tried it in FireFox 2. No problem there either.

So I'm at a loss to explain your problem...

Thank you both.
As you will see (<post:=701,066>post 701,066</post:>) it has gone though.
There was a 4-second delay while the spell-checker started, then a 14-second delay during the spell-check.
I'd like to swear that I waited at least 30 seconds each instance yesterday and this morning, but that probably isn't true.

Part of my problem is impatience. I'm not used to seeing any delay in the "check Spelling" command of the lounge, so when one does occur, and when it occurs at the same character in the text each time, I assume that my text is stumping the software. Although I could not see any obvious nasty-stuff that I'd typed.

FWIW I hadn't realised that I was using Firefox's spell-checker; apparently I am, if those wavy red lines are an example of its function. I spent a few minutes yesterday prowling the Mozilla site looking for the add-in, before I realised that it is a part of FireFox.

I need a holiday from this stuff, and you-all probably feel like you need a holiday from me .....

Why didn't anybody tell me that if I right-click on a mis-spelled word that I get offered a list of suggestions.

I've already saved so much time this morning that I'm taking tomorrow off and driving to Wellsville NY for a coffee.
