    Hyperlink Field Edit (2003)

The only way I see an end-user edit the email address for the email field in the startup form of the attached mdb is to right-click the email text box, select Hyperlink and then Edit Hyperlink or is there a faster one?

If you know exactly what you want to do, you can press F2 to edit the text directly.
On a contiuous or single form, you can place a command button that executes

    RunCommand acCmdEditHyperlink

You could also create a custom toolbar for the form with the Hyperlink... button.

Thank you Hans, is it possible to eliminate all the buttons from the (right-click)context menu for the email text box except the Edit Hyperlink one? I've tried the custom toolbar for the form with the Hyperlink... button but don't like it because if the emait textbox is already filled, clicking it with the mouse launches Outlook and creates a new mail, you can only select it using the keyboard and then press the button.

You can create a custom shortcut menu with only the Edit Hyperlink item, and specify this in the ShortcutMenuBar property of the text box bound to the hyperlink field.

Thank you Hans, is there a way to use the left-click(rather than the right-click) of the mouse to bring up the context menu? If not, is it possible to intercept the left-click so that left-clicking the email text box doesn't start a new mail message?

    Don't use a hyperlink field. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
