    Opening new window (5.5)

Starting yesterday, for reasons unknown, when I right-click on a link to "Open Link in New Window," the new window is now a small, minimized one. Previously, a full screen window always opened.

I've tried maximizing the new window and then opening another window, or closing IE down and relaunching, but the same results each time. Just the small, minimized window.

Any ideas of what can be done to get it back to opening a maximized new window by default? Thanks.

This kind of thing happens all throughout Windows. New windows remember the state of the last one. The trick is, instead of maximizing, resize it to a good size (e.g., almost the whole screen). Maximizing it doesn't reset the right settings, so the problem happens over and over..

You can hold down the ctrl+ the 'x' when it is in maximize size...it will go to your desktop...then reopen your browser and it will be large screen again. Just keep doing this a few times and Windows will eventually remember to open in maximize.
    Other than that, I don't know what else to give you on help...works for me everytime. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

CTRL + Close Window seems to help, sometimes...

    Hope that helps!

Thanks so much to all who've responded to my question thus far.

By all rights, the suggestions have been great and should work. But for whatever reason, they don't.

(It's possible that I'm doing the Ctrl-close window command incorrectly, but I don't think so.)

But thanks again though for all the suggestions. It's very much appreciated, and I'll keep trying. Happily, it's a minor matter when it comes to odd glitches.

There's a piece of software that should help with this called IEWindows Maximizer. Get it from my web site (# 79 ) and let me know if it does any good.

    Re: Opening new window (5.5)

    Here you go, Bob:

    1. With only one browser window open, hold your Shift key down while you click one of the links.
    2. Hold down the Alt key and hit the Tab key to switch back to the first window and then close it.
    3. Back in the new window, use the window edges to resize the window as big as possible.
    4. Close the window.

I tried using the maximize button instead of manually resizing the new window but it didn't work. You really do have to drag the window edges.

    Hope this helps.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!

Thanks very much. This suggestion worked. It is much appreciated.

And I also appreciate all the other folks who took the time to send along such other good tips (which, by all rights, should have also worked), as well.
