Groups in Windows Mail (6.0)

In my Windows Mail Contacts, I only have Organize, Views, and Burn on the toolbar.

Help says I'm supposed to have buttons to add contacts and, specifically, groups.

Where'd the buttons go and how do I get them back? 'Cause there's no "Modify" available by right-clicking the toolbar...

    Regards,

First ICON to the right of the "Send/Receive" is Contacts.
Open contacts, then to the right of Organize, there is Views, then New Contact, then NEW CONTACT GROUP.

Re: Groups in Windows Mail (6.0)

    Hi Dave,
I am a new user but like Chuck said in his email in March. All I have at the top of my contacts folder in the toolbar is organize/view/burn, there is no new contacts icon. I have the same program on my laptop and that has the new contact icon etc. Both are Vista Home Premium and I don't understand how to get the new contact icon to my toolbar or rather why it isn't there to begin with???

Re: Groups in Windows Mail (6.0)

If you can tell me how to do that I will but in the mean time here is what happens - when I open my contacts from the toolbar in my email the toolbar in the contacts window only shows Organize - Views - Burn that's all. To add a new contact I have to go to file - and go on from there.

(Edited by DaveA on 17-Aug-08 12:19. Added note about Properties)
I am NOT sure what you have done, but there should NOT be a "Burn", as this is used to "Burn a CD/DVD" and is not the norm for Contacts, but for Windows Explorer?

You need to tell us what kind of Tweaking you have done to your Vista setup?

    Edit
Open Windows Explorer, browse to you Contacts" folder and then Right click and select Properties. There select the "Customize" tab and make sure that the folder is listed as "Contacts" in the template drop down list.

Re: Groups in Windows Mail (6.0)

Truthfully I have done no tweaking. I simply brought it home Friday, plugged it in and put in my mail server info. The only thing I can think of is that maybe the guy at the store did something. That being said, I did as you instructed and low and behold, there it is just the way it is suppose to be. I love you, thank you 1,000 times. It makes life so much easier as I have to re-enter about 200 email addresses that couldn't be saved when my old pc croaked.

Note added by HansV on August 17, 2008: the link below doesn't work any more, unfortunately; apparently the page it referred to has been removed.

Does West Business Solutions - Can not create group contacts in windows mail help?
