    DVD HD to disk?

I'm thinking of buying this 3 in 1 Entertainment Unit. It seems good value for the money, but (being ignorant of the new stuff) I'm wondering if it's possible to take something recorded on the HD and transfer/ burn it to disk. Even if the unit is not capable of doing this, is it possible to interface to a PC for such an operation?

Generically, I'd say yes. But do you know for sure there is a PC connection? Do you know what OS is in the set top box? Linux? How is the disk formatted? Are the files compressed? Are the files encrypted? Is there DRM involved?

    Just a few things you might want to know. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

All good things to check on. Is there a "norm" or standards for these kinda features? I can't find further info on this one anywhere.

I doubt it. I think it depends entirely on the OEM - mfg. cost, profitability, pricepoint target, etc. I could not even tell who the manufacturer is.
