Merge w/Excel not all text showing (Office XP SP3)

    Hi gang,
I am merging a Word doc with an Excel file. There are Excell cells with a good amount of text. These cells don't merge properly. The text gets truncated quite a bit in Word.
Cells with less text get merged properly.
Anything I should check or specify before performing the merge.
    tks.

Just found my own answer. A while ago I asked a similar question.
    Here is Hans's reply:
    Try the following in Word:
    - Select Tools | Options...
    - Activate the General tab.
    - Tick the check box "Confirm conversion at open".
    - Click OK.
    - Go back to step 3 in the Mail Merge task pane.
    - Click the option to select another data source.
    - Navigate to the Excel workbook, select it and click Open.
    - You'll be prompted for a method to connect to the workbook.
    - Select either OLE DB Database Files or MS Excel Worksheets via DDE (*.xls), then click OK.
    - Proceed as usual.

    This solved the problem.
    Thanks Hans.

You mentioned in <post#=657,703>post 657,703</post#> that your document management system interfered with mail merge. Could this be happening here too? Word should be able to use cells with thousands of characters in a mail merge (I just tested it).

Added: oops, I didn't notice that you posted a reply while I was composing mine.

    Thanks Hans.
Right after I posted I just remembered the OLE DB or DDE (*.xls) you talked about last time.
Since we use PowerDocs here, I have to work "Offline" to be able to mailmerge an Excel file using OLE DB or DDE.
Otherwise, it just does not work.
I was working "offline" but I had not checked the "Confirm conversion at Open" in Word Options.
    Works just fine now.
Thanks for all your help. It's always greatly appreciated.

I am having the same issue with Office 2007. Using an Excel file as my data source for my Word mail merge. After making sure that "Confirm file format conversion on open" is checked and relinking to my data source the data is still cut off. I have tried selecting both OLE DB Database Files or MS Excel Worksheets via DDE (*.xls), then click OK. Any other thoughts?? Your help as always is appreciated.
