Vista SP1 and Search (Vista SP1)

SP1 has removed "Search" from the Start Menu (see Paul Thurrott's article - scroll down to "Other Functional Changes" for an explanation). This article shows how to get it back (almost). While Search still won't appear in it's original location on the right side of the Start Menu, you can add a Search shortcut to the Desktop, you can pin it to the Start Menu, and you can add it to the Quick Launch bar. A very useful series of tips.

Just typing your search terms in the Start Menu works pretty well. It works even better if you customize Vista indexing.

You can also press the keyboard "Start" button +F and it brings up the search. Also, I have Service Pack 1 installed on 2 laptops and search is still on the start menu.

The "Search" that is being about here is the one that was in the Right column of the start menu by Help and support. But, NOT the one below the "All Programs" entry.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
