copying outlook personal files to outlook express (w2K, XPpro)

Some help and advice please, my sister is using an old machine running W2K using Outlook for email. She has been given a (second hand) more up to date computer which has XP pro installed. We want to move her Outlook saved mails and contacts etc to the XP pro machine but thern use Outlook Express 6. I have searched the MS Knowledge Base and various other googles and can see how to copy and save Outlook files and settings but as I understand it these are .pst files whereas Outlook Express wants .dbx and .wab. So do we just import .pst files into Outlook Express and it will accept and deal with them - or is this not possible? Plus another thing I wondered would it work by using the files and settings transfer wizard to move everything she wants from the old computer over to the XP pro one (or should I make a new post in Windows XP for this question)

You are going to have to EXPORT them from Outlook to a Excel or other format files that you can import to Outlook Express.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
