Setting up a new wireless network

I need to set up a new wireless network. Normally there is at least one hardwired PC in the ones that I have done. I also always use a Linksys router. In this case however there are 4 laptops.
Question is do I, Should I, connect one of them via cable and then set the others up from there, using the Linksys configuration off of my pocket drive, and then un plug that one and set it up wirelessly as well? I can leave that one wired if need be because it is only Wireless B and they don't really want to buy a card for it.
All are running Win XP SP2 2 are Home and the other 2 are Pro
    Thanks John

Re: Setting up a new wireless network

In every case I've seen, the instructions are to setup the router with a wired connection first. This makes sense to me, so that you can setup the MAC filtering / WPA / WEP / etc....

To me, it's a best practice to setup the router with the wire first - then worry about the wireless (if desired) afterwards.

Yea that is what I hve alsways understood as well. Now I find that the laptop I was going to use as the wired connection doesn't even have an port for the cat5. and niether does the other one. One does however have at least a wireless card and I know that works. Guess I will have shut my wireless off and use mine to do the set up and then do the wireless.
    Thanks John

You do not NEED to use the linksys software. I don't.

Basically, connect to Linksys SSID. Open IE or mozilla and use:

No user name, the password is admin. Then, its just configuring.

Edit: sorry, I didn't see the date on this...

All you need to do is follow the setup in the Easylink Advisor.
