    Format of a date time (Excel)

    Hi lounge, I am trying to format a time (3/6/2008 12:46:00 PM) and would like to only get the the time in mm:ss instead of mm/day/yyyy hh:mm:ss PM, is there a easy way of doing this?

    Hi There

    Format --> Cells --> Number

    Highlight Time -and then select the format required

    Set the number format to mm:ss in the Number tab of Format | Cells? Or is that too naive?

    I have the same feeling as Hans about the simplicity of the answer, but if it is text import and this is a string you could try:

    =MID(A1,FIND(" ",A1)+2,5)

    Using your example date in the first message and that it is stored in A1
