Convert autonumber to number and retain formatting (Word 2003)

I have auto outline numbering (1, 1.1., 1.1.1) etc. with several titles sprinkled in here and there that are formatted in bold, Is there any way to change the autonumbering to fixed values (the numbers are assigned and shouldn't change if one is deleted) and keep the bold format on the titles? I've tried using text only, but that strips the bold and I have a LOT of formatting that I hate to have to go back and do over.

Select the list you want to change

Type Alt-F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor

Type Control-G to open the Immediate window

type Selection.Range.ListFormat.ConvertNumbersToText

Press the Enter key[/list]If you want to do the whole document then use ActiveDocument.Content instead of Selection.Range
