    SP-'Beat'? (Home Premium)

Well, being a chance-taker, I installed P-1. And promptly lost all audio qualities on my machine.

As I was properly advised on this board, I was able to recover via an image, so no harm nor foul.

But is MS bulling ahead a bit too quickly trying to recover lost ground for Vista?

Shouldn't an SP-? bring fixes instead of problems?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

As you can read in the thread starting at <post:=701,639>post 701,639</post:>, there are still issues with some drivers for specific hardware. (The thread contains several useful links)

If you used the Windows update, it should NOT have presented SP1 to you if you had driver issues.
Did you by chance download the full exe file and install it?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Define 'lost all audio qualities' please. Had you made changes that were not retained after SP-1 was installed? How did you installed SP-1 - from Windows Update or did you d/l the whole thing?

    Re: SP-'Beat'? (Home Premium)

    Joe, Dave:

I got P-1 from the update.

And by "lost all sound", I mean exactly that. NOTHING came out... no bell, beep, tone, nothing that I clicked to send to the speakers (Creative).

And the minute I uninstalled, through recovery of an image file, all was OK again.

I'm waiting for MS's response now.

I had contacted HP, who told me that loss of sound had been an issue with SP-1, and to try re-installing the Real HighDef driver, but that didn't help at all.

So now, I dunno when/how to try this again without losing a couple more hours...

    Regards,
    Chuck

    Dave:

The SP-1 update is right now sitting in my "available updates" on WinUpdate.

I thought that was where I had gotten it.

What sound card are you using? Is it a discrete card or builtin the motherboard? Do you have the most current drivers for the sound card?
