applying a 'cell style' (Word 03)

I've read some of the lengthy table styles posts and am getting the impression I'm out of luck. All I want to do is save a cell shading as a style. If I go to the normal style list, there's no provision for cells. If I go to the table styles, it looks like I'm formatting a range. I don't want to have to repeat: select cell, format, shading, white fill, 25%, lavendar. There, I've written a macro!

    Thanks for suggestions...

As far as I know, you can't apply a table style to individual cells - I think you only get one table style per table.

But you can apply a table style with shading that differs for various cells such as:
    - top left
    - top right
    - first row
    - odd rows
    - even rows
    - first column
    - odd columns etc

Depending on what cells you want to apply the shading to, you can probably do this with a table style.

Thanks but I want to apply a cell-by-cell shading to track progress on a timeline. Guess I'll stick with the macro!
