    counta issue (xp & 2003)

I have a filtered worksheet. I want to perform a "counta" statement so I can get a count for each type of criteria that is selected. I wrote the formula so it would include the first and last cell in the column. I thought was that the count would be different for each criteria i selected however, it does not seem to work.

What can I do to make this work?

    Thanks

This concept works with SubTotal but not CountA. What I do is fill a new column in the filterable range with 1; then subtotal that column.

    Something like:
    =subtotal(3,A2:A100)

    Steve

PS You can make a summary table using a pivot table to get the count of each item

    Thanks for that Steve
    Although my approach worked it was unnecessarily clumsy. <img src=/S/thankyou.gif border=0 alt=thankyou width=40 height=15>
