    Bar Chart (2003)

I have a column of four decimal numbers that add up to 1.000

I need to make a horizontal bar chart that has a width proportional to 1.000, and that shows each number in my column as a horizontal bar of appropriate length. In other words as a fraction of 1.000. The attached file shows what I'm trying to do.

I will also want to do this with columns that have different numbers of entries, maybe as many as six or eight.

    Re: Bar Chart (2003)

I need to say that the chart in my illustration was created using a large number of workarounds, fakes, etc. What I hope to do is to do it all withouht having to resort to trickery.

You can create a standard horizontal bar chart, double click the vertical (category) axis and tick the check box "Categories in reverse order".
Does that do what you want?

    Re: Bar Chart (2003)

I had lost track of the way to find that box. Finding it led me to all the other things I needed to do what I want. I've worked extensively with Excel charts, but not for several years. As often happens, posting a message here gives a useful answer that leads to other useful answers, the recollection of lost knowledge, etc.

    Thanks!!!
