I've never heard of these ads. That's because I use the NoScript extension. This extension is not for everyone because you often have to reload pages a few times to enable all the different scripts you want to run. But you might take a look. Check out this brief introductory video: YouTube - Using NoScript with Firefox.

    Hi Jefferson,
"This extension is not for everyone because you often have to reload pages a few times to enable all the different scripts you want to run."

To be able to view the introductory video you linked to, I had to enable different scripts ... <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15> but then I already have NoScript. Still have not added YouTube to my white list and since some months we need to enable for ytimg.com (though not when a YouTube clip is embedded/linked in a page it seems, somehow ytimg.com scripts is not needed then).

Thanks to you I found NoScript some year or two ago <img src=/S/thankyou.gif border=0 alt=thankyou width=40 height=15>, and if I would add only one thing to Fx, it would be NoScript. It works great. It can maybe be hard to decide what to trust and not, but it gives you a choice. It's not all or nothing.
