    Formula in Word? (Office 2007)

    Hi

    I would like to show the sum of cells in the LastName column excluding the Header, I have no idea how to do this in word.
    any help would be appreciated.

    I entered {=sum(above-1)} but doesn't work and when i save the file the formula dissappears.

    Regards

    Braddy

    Try { =count(above)-1 }

    Sum won't work here since the cells above the formula contain text values. If you want to count cells, use the formula suggested by Pam Caswell, otherwise please explain what you mean by Sum.
    After entering the formula field, you must press F9 to update it.

    Hi

    Thanks for the prompt reply, count was what I was looking for, is there a way to update if I insert a new row.

    NB Thanks also to Hans

    Select the cell or cells with a formula after inserting or deleting rows, then press F9 to update.
