Can't Create a folder (Home Premium)

I use Get Right as a download manager. And yes, I posted to them as well.

Why would I be unable to create a folder (on my F: Drive) if I am the owner of the drive, and I can save files to the drive?

It can't be a rights issue, can it?

And if not, what type of thing would it be?

I tried running GR a Administrator, but that didn't help. And I don't have this trouble on other drives.

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

What are the security properties for your user on the root of F:? Also, what version of GetRight do you have?

I do NOT see at their web site any place as to what the system requirements are. I also see that there are a LOT of Vista issues, if you were do a search at their forum.

Is this program Vista ready, if NOT, then this is most likely the problem.

    Edit,
    After rereading your problem.

Are you trying to make this folder using the program?

And what is this "F" drive?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Dave:

I posted the question to their board... I'll let you know.

It would seem to cause the issue, but they've been pretty good in the past.

    We'll see.

    Chuck

Re: Can't Create a folder (Home Premium)

    Dave:

While "I was waiting", I created a folder Downloads (on the Drive F:, labeled "DOWNOADS), and then set the default download folder there, instead of the root.

    That works.

    Very strange.

You still did NOT tell us what this F drive is, a external drive, a partition of your hard drive, a DVD or etc?

Remember that a lot of programs even on earlier OS versions have had problems of making a folder at the root of a drive.

    I'm sorry

'F:' is a partition on my second hd.

If the problem were consistent it would be more understandable. But, I have the same issue on one of the other partitions, and all the rest are fine.

    Am I assuming -- ownership?

No, I set it myself in trying to resolve, and I've checked it twice.

Well, I'd have to conclude that the program is NOT fully compatible with Vista. Have you checked their support forums?

Re: Can't Create a folder (Home Premium)

    Joe:

I've got a post into them now...

Strange, 'cause I just checked all my drives/partitions.

They all work fine, except this (F: "DOWNLOADS") and one other (M: "MUSIC) . All the rest seem fine.

As I am trying to get myself into compliance here, if the download manager IS the issue, which one out there IS compliant that is "recommended"?

Re: Can't Create a folder (Home Premium)

    Chuck,
    Can I ask a question?
WHY do you feel you need for a download manager at all?

Unless you are on a dial up type line and subject to frequent disconnects, a DLM isn't really needed. A Cable or DSL line is fast enough to eliminate the "big" feature of DLM, which is picking up a download at the spot where you were when disconnected.
    Outside of that??
