    Landscape/Portrait Printing (2003 SP3)

    Hi All
I have a customer who has a multi-tray printer/copier that is configured with two A4 portrait trays and one that is specifically for landscape. (I think this is something to do with reduction/enlargement of photocopied items). Printers are Xerox and HP. When a Word document is printed, the required tray is selected by tray number (in File, Page Setup) rather than by paper-type description. I am wondering what happens if you send a regular A4 Word document to print from the landscape tray? Will Word/the printer driver handle switching the orientation or will it print in landscape, or in fact a portrait document although the page is turned to landscape? (I hope that makes sense). I don't have access to the printer to try it and it's not as easy as just asking them to do so :-(

Does anyone know the answer to this one? Any help appreciated as always.

My guess would be that Word would override the internal printer settings, i.e. that the document would be printed correctly. But there's nothing like trying it out in reality - it can't be that hard to ask the customer to print one document, can it? <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Ah, I can ask but whether it gets done is an entirely different matter :-)

Thanks very much for your for your response - that's what I think too. If it's any different I'll update the post when I get the opportunity to test it for real.
