    Windows files deleted (Server 2003)

We are having a issue that has become critical to find a solution. We have a Windows server where Windows in on the C: and on the D: drive Equitrac, Domino Server, Blackberry Server and MacAfee are installed. Twice since February first, the windows files on C: have disappeared except for any files open/in use at the time. Yesterday we did a brand new install on a new server, and today the C: files are gone again.

We figure there is a conflict between some of the software installed, but until February we had no problems. These software packages were all installed for a year before the issue started. Does anyone have any thoughts?

You've done malware scans? Are the event logs still available? Installed anything new or a major update?

This time it was a brand new server therefore a new install of each software package. The Domino, McAfee, and Blackberry software was installed from a download from the software web sites. The Equitrac was installed by the vendor themselves.

The logs are still available, because they were written to the D: drive. They is an item in the log at about 12:30 am that it was trying to restore the deleted files.

Do you have the luxury of installing one of the applications at a time & letting it run for a while to verify that it is OK before installing the next?

Our plan for today (since the C: drive needed to be rebuilt again) is to only install the software needed for Blackberry (Blackberry server and Domino). We can install Equitrac on another server, since we have the old server, where all the software was installed before. We will see how that goes for us.

You could try running something like Process Monitor or FileMon for Windows. Both are <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15>.

    Thanks for the information.
