Tab key to shift between outline levels (2003)

    Dear Loungers,

I have grown accustomed to using the Tab key to shift between outline levels, but recently, it stopped working! Pressing Tab at the start of any outline just leads the cursor to jump ahead a tab space, rather than shift the level over. Shift tab leads to the same result, rather than shifting the outline level one over to the left. I don’t know what I recently changed, but does anyone know how to get it back to the way it was??

You could switch to Outline view...

Or does this do what you want?
    - Select Tools | AutoCorrect Options...
    - Activate the AutoFormat As You Type tab.
    - Tick the check box "Set first- and left-indent with tabs and backspaces".
    - Click OK.
