    Malicious Code Remover (XP)

I have noticed the Microsoft malicious code remover is downloaded with Windows automatic updates. I have not however seen how it is used. How do I access it? or does Windows run the scan during the update procedure.
    Thanks

    Re: Malicious Code Remover (XP)

Windows runs the Malicious Software Removal Tool automatically after downloading it. It only becomes visible if it has detected malware. If you have installed security software (anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall) yourself, the Malicious Software Removal Tool is probably superfluous, but on the other hand, it doesn't take much time.
The version installed by Microsoft Update is not intended to be run on its own. You can download a stand-alone version - see Malicious Software Removal Tool.
