    Venison Burgers

Have just visited a little local butcher in Jedburgh (Scottish borders) and bought some venison burgers. They smell amazing - lets hope they taste as good as they look/smell !!!

I'd like to try venison, but it's too deer.

    It costs too many bucks.

And I don't have the doe.

They were absolutely gorgeous - will def get them again. Am in Jedburgh about one a month now as we have just opened a new branch there.

While I was in the butchers the last time I spotted Haggis Truffles. They look like scotch eggs - but where the egg would be there is haggis instead - so haggis, sausage meat and breadcrumbs. Might try one the next time I am in and let you know !!

    Re: Venison Burgers

    Ah Chris.

This reminds me of the story of how they came up with the image on the (then) new Canadian $2 coin. When they decided to have a new $2 coin they had an in-depth study of which animal to put on it. (All coins have the queen on one side and most have an animal on the other. The $1 has a 'loon' on it, hence the name 'loonie' for the Canadian currency, the 25 cent piece has an elk, the 5 cent piece a beaver). One guy says - hey why don't we put two deer on it? Naw said another - that would just be a couple of bucks. How about two loons, said another? No way! It would be called the dub-loonie, can't have that. After a couple of days of this the finally decided on the polar bear.

    So what did they end up with? Yes the <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">Queen</span hide> with a <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">bear behind</span hide> <img src=/S/exclamation.gif border=0 alt=exclamation width=15 height=15> - but don't tell Jezza!

Thank heavens they didn't decide on a Pacific steam locomotive!
