Tab Order v. "Arrow" Order

I've got frame object on a Word 97 form with a bunch or radio buttons. The tab order is set correctly -- pressing tab sends the focus rectangle to each control in the right order. BUT, if I use the arrow keys to navigate from control to control, the order is all mess' up. What's going on?

Re: Tab Order v. "Arrow" Order

I think that the Tab order is controlled by the way you have them set up with the TabOrder property, but the arrows are going to loop through the objects as they are positioned. If you have ordened controls, this will be quite logical, down arrow, will move control to the object beneath the object which has the focus, but if your controls are all around the place, this can hve some strange effects, although the general idea of following the direction of the arrows will still apply.

    Re: Tab Order v.

Well, I've got this framed group: see attachment.

When I down arrow once to go from "Complaint" to "Letter" the focus rectangle goes to "Notice". Another down arrow takes it to "Appeals" then a third down arrow goes to the "Cancel" button. Tabbing works just great, though.

    I'm definitely missing something here.

The attachment locks my Word version up.

Is it Word 2000? If yes, could you save it as Word 97, don't possess Word 2000 yet.

    Kevin,

    I think I've got it.

When I tried to make a little userform like you did, I happended to see similar behaviour.

The reason is almost certainly that the option buttons with their caption are to close, and that the bottom of the Complaint control overlaps with the top of the Letter control, whose bottom overlaps also with the top of the Notice control.

This falsifies the arrow down and up behaviour. The arrows look for the next control, and due to the mixed up borders you get what you've got.

Put some space in between, and your problem should be solved.

    Cheers

    Cala,

    Absolutely!

You have a very careful eye. That was the problem. Thanks for the solution.
