    AutoNumber Sort (Access 2003)

I have a database using an autonumber as a primary key field. After 9999 records, Access correctly creates 10000, 10001, etc. The problem is the sort. Access sorts the 10000 at the beginning of the records. To view the most recent records, we have simply opened the table and looked to the end. Now the newest records are sorted at the beginning of the table.

Is this normal behavior? If not, what's happening?

    Thanks,
    Craig.

That is definitely not normal behavior. Could you post a copy of the database with just the problem table? You can clear all other fields, and leave the AutoNumber field. See <post#=401925>post 401925</post#> for instructions on how to reduce the size of the database.

    Hi Craig,

I have a hunch someone opened the table, applied a sort, then saved it. Just open the table and remove the sort/filter.
