    Hyperlink (2003)

In my Word document, I was trying to add a hyperlink to Woody's Lounge website (www.wopr.com) but it does not work. If I placed my cursor over the www.....it would say "CTRL + Click to follow link". what does that mean? and how can I get it to link directly to the desired website?? Thank you in advance.

With the newer version of Office, one MUST hold the "Control" key down and then click the link.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Whether or not the Ctrl is needed is an application setting, not a document setting. In other words, you can change your default by visiting Tools > Options..., Edit tab. But this is personal to you and doesn't affect the document itself.

As DaveA wrote, the default in Word 2002 and later is that you must hold down the Ctrl key on the keyboard while clicking on a hyperlink to activate it. This is intended as a safety measure, to prevent the user from accidentally following a hyperlink.
If you'd prefer to be able to follow a hyperlink without holding down Ctrl:
    - Select Tools | Options...
    - Activate the Edit tab.
    - Clear the check box "Use CTRL + Click to follow hyperlink".
    - Click OK.
