    AskWoody.com - server not found?

Any news of this? Or is it just me?

    Works for me.

Might you have an old IP address in your hosts file?

Woody's site loads okay on my iMac even after a refresh of the page. <img src=/S/yep.gif border=0 alt=yep width=15 height=15>

Weird. It looks OK to me. I'll check and see if my host is having problems.

    Thanks for the heads-up, folks!

Have you tried Shift F5, to pull a fresh copy from the sever, rather than just F5 to refresh from your cache?

Re: AskWoody.com - server not found?

I still can't get AskWoody.com, on FX2 or IE7! Tracert on both www.askwoody.com and askwoody.com comes up after a short pause with "unable to resolve target system name" (and nothing else). This is after having turned off ZoneAlarm firewall. And I've powered off/on since yesterday.

I've not found a problem with any other website! And the only thing in my HOSTS file is 127.0.0.1 localhost !

    Hi John

I have the following for my URL for Woody's - http://askwoody.com/ I do not have www in the address bar. Would that make a difference for you?

Edited to add..... OHHHH - I see you did try "askwoody.com" too. Sorry I missed that when I read your post...............

Re: AskWoody.com - server not found?

I had a similar problem about two years ago. I contacted my ISP, and it turned out that the default DNS server I was using was flaky. They pointed me to a better one and explained how to set it. Perhaps your ISP can help you.

Thanks, Hans - it did look DNSsy.

I installed XP SP3; no improvement.
I restarted my router; no improvement.
I restarted my cable modem; yey! AskWoody now works!

Re: AskWoody.com - server not found?

I can get to askwoody.com, but I came here to ask if there is a new webpage for Microsoft patch reports? The most recent info on the viewpatch page is a 'standby' alert from March 8th. And yes, I have been avoiding applying any patches since that date.

Re: AskWoody.com - server not found?

Apparently Woody forgot to update the Patch Reliability Ratings page. The main page Woody’s no-bull news, tips and help for Windows and Office. contains some later postings about Windows Patchings/Security and Office Patchings/Security.
I think you can safely apply the April '08 and earlier updates offered by Microsoft Update.
