    fixed versus round (XP)

What's the difference between using the "fixed" and "round" functions?

    Thank you again

The round function rounds it and it stays a number. Its format is set by the cells number format

The fixed function rounds it and then formats it and returns it as text. It is unaffected by the number format and is ignored in many calculations (averaging, counting, etc)

Whew! I thought that was the case and I called my co-worked just in the nick of time to save her from my error - she need to know the difference 'cause she is the Payroll supervisor and would have really been angry (to say the least) if she had continued on with the "fixed" function instead of "round" and discovered - too late - that she could no longer apply any mathematical functions to those results!

Thank you thank you thank you for verifying my conclusion . . .
