    Adaware Trial version

I have a friend who has a trial version of Adaware on his laptop. The trial has expired and he wants to remove it. I removed it using the unistall, but yet the program still starts up when he fires up the laptop. It is also still showing in the registry. Other than removing it from the registry after doing a reg back up, anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks John

    Re: Adaware Trial version

    Has it turned into the <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> version with a reduced feature set?

    Re: Adaware Trial version

    Oh.

Is there anything in the Start -> All Programs menus for Ad-Aware which includes the Uninstall option? Although this should be identical to what you get by doing Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs...

Provided you delete the Lavasoft directory (if you let it default to this name at install time) from Program Files, you may be able to get "Add or Remove Programs" to delete the now useless entry from its list by attempting the uninstall from there. Any Ad-Aware registry entries should just then be using up disk space without causing problems (the "Ad-Aware 2007 Service" will fail to start without comment, I would suspect).

I might be tempted to try another install followed by another reinstall, if all previous methods fail.

Anything on any of the Support Forums?

    Yes,
After I deleted it using the Add Delete Programs I took a look and it was still in the Start/Programs I clicked on their Uninstall, and it even said it was uninstalled. there is nothing that I saw that said Lavasoft but will take another look
    Thanks John

    Re: Adaware Trial version

A couple of things come to mind:

o Did you have it shut down when you did the removal? It may have "coughed" at some of the uninstall script if not.
o Does he also have a free version, that the startup entry is pointing to?
