    Inserting multiple graphics (2003)

    Is there a way to insert multiple JPG files into a Word file and have each JPG file appear on a separate page? I have about 170. Is it also possible to have Word include each inserted file's name as a header or footer on each page? Thanks.

    You could insert a next page section break after each picture. You can set the header and footer for each section (you must "unlink" them from the previous header/footer first).
    If all jpg files are stored in a single folder, it would be possible to use a macro to populate the document.
    But are you sure that a Word document is the ideal format for this? The document will no doubt become very large!

    Thanks, Hans, for your always helpful replies! You're correct; Word isn't the ideal tool. PDF works, but doesn't break the files on a per page basis. I'm playing now with PowerPoint's photo album feature. That may work, especially if I can add the file name to each slide automatically. I need to put together a document that I can print.

    <P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by wdwells on 03-May-08 12:32. code revised to work from bottom up instead of original top down.)</P>You could run the following code after inserting all of your pictures:

    Sub PicPerPage()
    Dim i As Long
    With ActiveDocument
    For i = .InlineShapes.Count To 2 Step -1
    With .InlineShapes(i)
    If .Type = wdInlineShapePicture Then
    .Select
    Selection.Collapse
    Selection.MoveLeft wdCharacter, 1
    If Asc(Selection) <> 12 Then
    Selection.MoveRight wdCharacter, 1
    Selection.InsertBreak Type:=wdPageBreak
    End If
    End If
    End With
    Next i
    End With
    End Sub

    Thanks very much. I ended up using IrfanView to print each image in the folder to a PDF and insert the file name as a footer.

    Using code to put in page breaks is more labour intensive than necessary. Assuming there is a graphic per paragraph, then all you need to do is select all and then choose Format>Paragraph and put in a Page Break Before on every paragraph.
