    IMAP vs POP (2003)

I set up three different POP3 e-mail accounts and one IMAP e-mail account (a .mac account).

POP3: All of the POP3 e-mail goes into the "Personal Folders" and when I delete it, it goes into the recycle bin. I can then get rid of it forever by emptying the recycle bin

IMAP: Outlook made a separate PST file for some reason. When I delete an e-mail from that inbox, it gets crossed out instead of deleted. I don't know what to do to "really" delete it.

    What gives? Thanks!

IMAP folders live on the server; that is why they always appear separate from normal personal folders.

To flush messages that are lined out, use the "Purge" feature. See this article: Purge IMAP items marked for deletion - Outlook @ Microsoft Office Online.
