Compare and merge (2003)

    Hi all,

I was trying to compare and merge two workbooks but the "Compare and merge" option in Excel was grayed out. I found out that I have to shared both workbooks and I did that, I can now click on "compare and merge" option but the I try to compare two workbooks I get the following error (please see the attached .gif file).

    Many thanks for your help.

These are the requirements for Compare and Merge according to the Excel help:

Both workbooks must meet the following requirements:

Be copies of the same workbook, which must have been a shared workbook.

Have different file names.

Either not have passwords, or both have the same password.

Have change tracking in effect continuously from when the copies were made.

Keep change history back at least as far as the date when the copies were made.
