I was just browsing around on http://www.handango.com/ and I wondered if others have any utilities or programs that they would recommend.

After my trials and tribulations in <!post=Convert a PDA to a GPS mapper,709723>Convert a PDA to a GPS mapper<!/post> I found my choice was narrowed by the version of the Pocket PC I had on my PDA. One indicator is to find out what version of .NET Framework your PDA is working on. If you navigate to Windows and click on cgacutil, it will show your version <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Once I found that out I could make my decision as the games and utilities are very memory hungry now.

I am looking for a better version of the Today screen. I find when I want to get to my Excel mobile files (I only have a couple - but I record info often) I have to step through 4 menus to open the file. I'd like to be able to create shortcuts to files.

Nice little utility I have just found is Tray Launch. I created a dummy PXL file and was able to create a shortcut to it in my PDA Tray...pretty cool

What do you keep in your database?

The closest thing to a db I've got is a list of the children's DVD movies.

I am however, having fun with the MobiPocket Reader.
Its a nifty piece of software, I love the fact I can set bookmarks and zoom the text for my lousy eyes.
Drawback - continuous reading sucks the power down.

I'm a safety inspector so I use for lists of approved equipment, etc. If you have a look on the DDH website you'll see they have a section where users can upload their own applications. So there's all sort's of things from Weight Watchers; football schedules; car mileage; shopping lists to more professional stuff such as fire inspections; patient tracking logbooks. (I understand this database is popular with the medical fraternity—the Medical section has heaps of "donated" d/.

The ActiveSync on my Motorola Q does not support Outlook Notes, my only real disappointment. Anyone know of a simple, <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15>, Notes app for WM6?

I've found a couple of freeware utilities that are working for me.
Pocket Nav http://www.scottandmichelle.net/scott/cestuff.html is a nice task switcher.
Today Agenda http://www.tiews.info/index.php?show=&lang=en is a nice enhancement to the today screen (haven't tried the latest version but will today!)

It isn't free, but I like OneNote2007 mobile. You have to run OneNote2007 on your PC and install the mobile version from there, but the program is extremely handy if you take notes of any kind. The mobile version is limited to single notes, no live links and subfolders the way the PC version works, but notes you create on the mobile device will be synced to a OneNote Mobile folder on the PC.

I looked through Handango, and based on my objectives and the reviews, purchased SmartphoneNotes. Nothing fancy about it, but it works fine, including synching via USB with ActiveSynch to Outlook 2003. I have had a couple of synch conflicts but was able to resolve them.
