stop popup on usb plug in (xp )

When i plug my memory stick into my laptop's usb port, it pops up to say this device can work faster and offers to show me a list of available ports. None of them are v2 so wont make the device work faster, so how can i stop windows constatly offering this? I am hoping there is some general way to switch off these useless and annoying messages. Thanks Frank

(Edited by Leif on 12-May-08 16:33. )
Try MSKB 835967: How to turn off the "Hi-speed USB device plugged into non-hi-speed USB hub" warning message.

Alternatively, a USB2 port card costs very little these days...

Edited to add - actually, a USB2 port card for a laptop probably would cost more than a very little...

Thanks Leif, and I imagine that my ancient Thinkpad, on the verge of retirement, might not take too kindly to any new-fangled 'improvments' at its age!

Just be aware of the note at the end: If you turn off this option, all other USB error messages are also turned off !
