No Slideshow in Explorer (Vista Ultimate)

    Hi

I can't get the slide show to work in explorer, I believe I have tried everthing including a complete re-install of Window Vista.

    Any ideas please.

    Regards

Do you see the slide show icon?

If not select a image and then it should appear, then all one needs to do is select it.

    Hi Dave

Yes all the images are there, you can open them in any other app but the slideshow won't run

Re: No Slideshow in Explorer (Vista Ultimate)

    Dave,

This thread piqued my interest as I was not aware of being able to launch a "Slideshow" presentation in Windows Explorer (Photo Gallery, yes). I have looked for an "icon" and can't seem to find one. I then did as you suggested and clicked on a photo (image file) and still no "icon". So, where is this Slideshow icon supposed to appear? And no, I have not modified my system that would affect this feature; running basically default everything with a few minor tweaks in unrelated areas.

I don''t see Dave around, Jeff. Here's a shot of my Explorer and my Vista is still pretty new and I think in default condition except for the "options" most of us usually change about file views, etc. When I select a group of pix and click the button it does start a slide show. I obviously don't know what would make it fail...

Re: No Slideshow in Explorer (Vista Ultimate)

    Dave,

You are correct IF the "Properties/Customize" selection is set to "Pictures and Videos". On most of my Picture folders that option was set to "Documents" or "All Files" and as soon as I changed it to "Pictures and Videos" the Slideshow icon appeared. Clicking it opened a slideshow and all works fine.

    THANKS!

I was baffled by this question too. I couldn't find the "Slide Show" icon in Windows Explorer. Thanks for resolving the issue, Jeff. The Lounge is a great place to learn something new (re-learn something old?) every day.

    Cheers,

Now that you have found it, I remember going through this also during beta a couple of times. It is one of those things you do not do very often but need to when you do NOT use the as designed folders
