    F4 key not working (2003)

I used to be able to press the F4 function key to repeat the last action (eg Delete). Suddenly this doesn't work any more. Does anyone have any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated.

    Try this first:

    - Select Tools | Macro | Visual Basic Editor or press Alt+F11.
    - Select View | Immediate Window or press Ctrl+G.
    - Type

    Application.OnKey "{F4}"

    - Press Enter.

This should restore the built-in action of F4. If that doesn't work, make sure that F4 still functions normally in other applications - if not, there might be a problem with the keyboard.

If the problem is limited to Excel, take a look at Jan Karel Pieterse's <!post=Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in XL,290455>Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in XL<!/post>.

Thank you Hans. Will definitely try this out.

I assume this works to reset any of the function keys?

As a side note, control+y has the same functionality as F4.
