    processor 100% used (winxp + ie6)

Often when I connnect to a site after searching with Google, a process called cidaemon.exe utilizes 100% of the processor time. When I leave the selected site, cidaemon.exe often doesn't stop so the processor continues to be 100% used. I have reinstalled xp and ie6 to no avail. It seems to me that it might be a virus but I wonder whether anyone has a different idea? I have scanned with standard anti virus programs and found nothing.

cidaemon.exe is the indexing service from Microsoft. It indexes the files on your hard disk.
You can turn off this service as follows:
    - Select Start | Run...
    - Type services.msc and press Enter.
    - Scroll down until you see Indexing Service.
    - Double-click this entry.
    - Click the Stop button if this button is enabled.
    - Set the Startup type to Manual or Disabled.

You can also turn off indexing in your search preferences in Start | Search...
