Count 'text' in a Row (2003)

    Hey all,

I have a group vacation calander that we use. When we have a vacation day, we enter a "V" in the cell. To help keep track of our days off, I wanted to put a counter in the spreadsheet to keep track of the V days.

I tried using the COUNTA but that did not work. Attached is the stripped down version.

Some cells "could have" something other than a V, but I only need to count the V days.

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

    thanks,
    Brad

    =COUNTIF(E3:BN8,"V")
    will count the literal Vs

    =COUNTIF(E3:BN8,"*V*")
Will count anything containing a V (including TV, V/4, etc)
