    Calendar Unread (2003 SP3)

I'm using Outlook standalone (no Exchange) . In Calendar View, under My Calendars, it displays Calendar (5). What does the (5) mean? In Mail Inbox I know it means 5 unread messages.

It probably means that unread messages have been moved or copied into your calendar.

Doesn't sound right. I have only one unread message in my In Box but Calendar still shows (5). And where would an unread msg show up in Calendar? Could the (5) be related to the number of Important dates, or something similar?

The number (1) after Inbox shows that there is one unread message in your Inbox. It doesn't have anything to do with the number of unread messages in other folders.
You may be able to find the items in Calendar by switching to a list view such as By Category, or by searching for Messages or for All Outlook types and specifying Unread in the search criteria.

I guess I'm operating in unfamiliar territory here. I didn't know you can send messages to the Calendar. How do you do that? A Help search on Messages yields nothing useful.

You can't send messages to a calendar (as far as I know). My guess would be that some messages have been moved or copied into the calendar by accident.

    Re: Calendar Unread (2003 SP3)

OK, now I get it. Mystery solved. After perusing the Calendar in Category view I found two of the "messsages". One was from a Microsoft email inviting me to a meeting. Either they, or I, automatically put it into my Calendar upon receipt. I'm sure the others have the same genesis.
    Thanks for your patient explanations.
